The Magic Lantern Sessions
When silent films first made an appearance, they were almost always accompanied by live music, starting with a pianist at the first movie projections by the Lumiere Brothers in Paris in 1895.
The music for silent films was often improvised, and by around 1915, large city theatres began featuring organists or ensembles
of musicians.
Over 100 years later renowned drummer Ronny Ferella & guitarist Robbie Melville come together to reimagine the live music-movie experience. With a wealth of performance experience in a pot pourri of musical styles, this eclectic Victorian based duo create modernist realtime musical scores to "see & hear" these cinematic classics in a 21st Century way.
